Privacy policy

The short version: your fasting history never leaves your phone. We collect anonymous statistics about how the app is used — never who is using it. There is no account to create, so there is no account to breach, and nothing here follows you into other apps.

This policy covers the Fastful app for iPhone and Apple Watch, and the website fastfulapp.com. Both are made by Igor Putina. It's short because there is genuinely little to disclose.

What stays on your device

Everything you record — fasts, goals, notes, streaks, achievements, and settings — is stored in the app's local database on your device. None of it is transmitted to us or to anyone else.

• Your fasting history, goals, and any edits you make
• Streaks, milestones, and statistics computed from that history
• Your preferences (display options, reminder schedule)
• Notifications — reminders and goal alerts are scheduled locally by iOS, not sent from a server

If you use Apple's device backups (iCloud or local), your Fastful data is included in them like any other app's data. Those backups are managed by Apple under Apple's privacy policy and your own settings.

Anonymous usage statistics

Fastful uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used in aggregate. We have no account system and no support funnel, so this is the only way we learn which features are worth keeping and which should be removed.

What is sent:

• Anonymous app events — that a fast was started or ended, which preset goal was chosen, how many hours it lasted, whether a badge was earned, which tab was opened
• A random app instance identifier — created by Firebase for this installation only. It is not your name, your Apple ID, or your advertising ID, and it cannot be linked to you
• Basic technical information — device model, iOS version, app version, language, and an approximate country derived from a masked IP address

What is never sent:

• The times and dates of your individual fasts. We record how long a fast lasted, never when you ate or slept
• Your name, email address, or any account identifier
• Your precise location, contacts, photos, or health data
• Any note or free text you have typed

We have switched off the parts of Firebase that would make this personal. Fastful does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), does not use the vendor identifier (IDFV), does not enable ad personalisation, and does not use Google Signals. Nothing Fastful records can be combined with data from other companies' apps or websites — which is why iOS never shows you the "Ask App Not to Track" prompt. It isn't suppressed; there is no cross-app tracking to ask about.

This data is processed by Google on our behalf, including on servers in the United States, under Google's data processing terms. We keep it for no longer than 14 months. Our lawful basis under the GDPR is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the app, balanced against the fact that the data is anonymous and never used to profile you.

Your choices

Because we never learn who you are, we cannot look up "your" data to show or delete it — there is no identifier connecting it to you. What you can do:

• Reset the statistics. Deleting and reinstalling Fastful discards the app instance identifier and starts a new, unconnected one.
• Export or erase your own history. Your fasting data is on your device: export it to CSV at any time, or delete it in the app.
• Ask us. If you have a question or a request under the GDPR, CCPA, or any similar law, write to us and we will do what we can with what little we hold.

CSV export

You can export your fasting history to a CSV file at any time. Once exported, that file is yours: where you save it, and who you share it with, is entirely under your control.

The App Store

Your purchase of Fastful is processed by Apple. We never see your payment details. Apple may show us aggregated, anonymous statistics (such as the number of downloads by country) that contain nothing about you personally.

This website

fastfulapp.com is a static site. It runs no analytics and sets no advertising or tracking cookies. The only thing it keeps on your device is whether you chose the light or dark theme, stored in your browser so the page doesn't flash the wrong colours next time. Our hosting provider may keep standard, short-lived server access logs (IP address, browser type) for security and operations, as virtually all web hosting does; we don't use them for anything else.

The contact form

The contact page is the one part of this site that involves other companies. If you never use it, they never hear anything about you.

• What you send us — the topic you pick, your message, your email address if you choose to give one, and whether you ticked the box saying we may write back.
• Formspark delivers that message to our inbox. It is a Belgian company acting as our processor, and it holds the submission only as long as we need it. See Formspark's privacy policy.
• Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you're a person and not a spam script. To do that it sees your IP address, browser user agent, and some technical characteristics of your connection. It sets no cookies on this site and is not used to profile or track you. See Cloudflare's Turnstile privacy policy.

We use what you send only to reply. We don't add you to any mailing list, and we delete the conversation when it's no longer needed. If you email us directly instead, the same applies — without Formspark or Cloudflare being involved at all.

Children

Fastful is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included. The usage statistics described above are anonymous and are not used to build a profile of any person, of any age.

Future features

We're considering optional HealthKit and iCloud sync. If they ship, they will be strictly opt-in, your data will move only between your own devices and your own Apple accounts, and this policy will be updated first — with the date at the top changed so you can tell.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated date. Given the architecture, don't expect much drama.
